About the Role
As the studio’s 2D art lead you will be responsible for defining the artistic vision for the rest of the team, in addition to creating all of the 2D illustrations for the game and its marketing assets. You will be an early hire in a growing company and will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of areas related to game development.
Responsibilities:
- Defining the project’s art style by collating reference images and concepts, testing different styles, and creating a coherent artistic vision for the rest of the team
- Creating the game’s box art and marketing assets
- Creating concept art for use by 3D and technical artists
- Creating storyboard sketches for trailers and cinematics
- Creating illustrations for in-game characters, environments, and assets
- Creating in-game user interface icons, pieces, panels etc as required
Requirements
Based in European Union OR willing to relocate to Ireland
Fluent English
Experience in art for video games
Proficient in art fundamentals including anatomy, composition, design and color theory
Detailed knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or alternate image creation tools
Extensive portfolio featuring multiple styles of digital illustrations, including both characters and environments
About the Company
Founded by experienced entrepreneurs from the tech and entertainment industries, Outlier is an independent video game studio based in Dublin, Ireland.
The studio’s first game, This Means Warp, released in Early Access on Steam in 2022 and will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch platforms later in 2023 (published by Jagex, the creators of RuneScape).
Outlier is currently ramping up production on a larger second title, a strategy/simulation game based on a well-known darkly comedic sci-fi IP.
